Falafel
Falafel with Pita Bread & Hummus!
Its a famous Middle-east cuisine and 100% Vegan and Plant based. They are great source of Protein. Falafels are made of soaked and mashed chickpeas combined with onions, bread crumbs, and spices. These are usually fried but you can also bake them.
They are served best With Pita Bread in the form of Wrap or sandwhich with Tahini or Hummus lined with choice of other veggies. Its very much filling and taste amazing with various spreads of your choice.
Ingredients:
- ½ Cup White Chick Peas (Soaked overnight and drained)
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Garlic
- ¼ Cup Chopped onions
- 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander
- Shredded lettuce if want to eat stuffed
- 1 tbsp Chopped Mint
- ½ Tbsp cumin seeds
- ¼ tbsp Gluten Free Baking Powder
- 1 Tbsp green chilli paste
- Oil for Frying
- Pita Bread
- Vegan Butter for Brushing
- Hummus or Tahini for dip
- Tomato slices if want to eat stuffed
Getting it done:
- Combine the white chick peas, garlic, onion, coriander, mint leaves, cumin seeds and salt and blend in mixer to a coarse mixture.
- Transfer the mixture in bowl and baking powder and chilli paste and mix.
- Shape into round ball or patty and put in Hot oil and deep fry till they turn golden brown from all sides.
- Drain excess oil on absorbent paper and keep side.
- Can be served directly with pita bread and Hummus or Tahini Dip.
- Cut Pita bread into vertical to form a pocket.Heat pita bread with vegan butter brushing on non-stick pan on both sides at medium flame. Take a pita bread, spread ½ tsp of Garlic paste or spread of your choice, 1 tsp of Tahini dip and place 2 falafel balls. Top it with Whisked curd, place cut tomato and shredded lettuce.
